Did you know this makes my 9th or 10th blog..JEEZ! Well, this is for a good cause and I get to have fun and create kitty graphics. Might as well do something good with my talent, right? Click on the link to take you there.
Click on the image to go. In order to keep my art separated, I have started a different blog for my portfolio. I will keep sharing here as much as I can and hopefully bring more folk art to this page when I have some free time (which seems like never, these days)
COOL! I created my first drawing in Illustrator. I used the pencil tool. This is so different than my painting in Photoshop. Each part is a separate path. It only took me an hour. That's not bad for a beginner! I am feeling a little bit better about Illustrator now. Though, I would love to know if I can shade my painting. We will see!
After hours of schoolwork, I had to practice painting in Photoshop. I know my lines could be crisper, but I am pretty tired of looking at my computer screen. So, I am hanging up my Wacom board for the day. I love the chocolate background.
Didn't I say I was gonna stop sitting in front of the computer and veg on the couch. LOL It's 930 already and I didn't relax at all. Oh well. I was having a little fun drawing one of my prior paintings in Photoshop. I am trying to master the pen tool. It's not easy! I experimented with smudge and opacity a little on this one. She's such a pretty girl. Who does she remind you of?
It's a rainy day here. I have been working on school work most of the afternoon. I am a bit tired of looking at my computer screen, so I am not about to draw in Photoshop today. I kind of feel like being lazy and hanging on the couch. Not sure yet, if that is what I will do.
This 5x7 painting is one of my favorites. It was inspired by a Gritty Jane original. I could not find an image of it to share as she is not creating angel art anymore.
Yeah! Summer is almost here. The weather has been pretty nice. When it's not raining that is. I start working part time soon. The hours are perfect for a college student.
I also invited mom to come have a craft day with me once a week. Mom started painting. Art runs in the family. Though, mom was like me and had not created in a very long time. I am going to help her with a blog, so she can share her art.
Worked on my shading techniques this morning. I am not formally trained in fine art, being a cartoonist I am not very good at making my girls look real. Though, I am happy with being a cartoonist, I do admire artists that can do much more. This girl is inspired by a Gritty Jane painting. I used the dodge and burn technique in the hair and above the eyes and under the chin. It's so much fun realizing what you can do in Photoshop.
All I want to do is play in Photoshop. This is another very quick painting. I have been a bad girl. I have not tried any new techniques. Just learning to draw my lines well on the computer is hard enough. Oh well.
I love Carla Girards whimsical flowers. Here I added a manipulated version of her flowers to one of my angel paintings.
I am officially addicted to drawing in Photoshop. It can be dangerous because it appeals to my obsessive side. It is just as satisfying as painting, but without the mess. Woohoo! The best part....the eraser tool! You can't do that with paint and a canvas. These are about as primitive as you can get, but I look forward to learning everything I can.
Drew my first painting in Photoshop. It was so much fun. I used a previous painting of mine, traced the outline with my Wacom Board pencil, then deleted the image, tweaked the lines and painted with the brush and bucket tools. Not bad for my first try. It took me about an hour from start to finish. I could probably do it all day.... This is so addicting!
I was inspired by the hope of a warm sunny springtime this year. We got plenty of sunshine today, but it is still cold. I am thrilled that it is supposed to get up to 40 degrees this weekend. Maybe it will finally melt all the ice in my driveway. I've been feeding the birds the last few days, so that means Tucker can't go outside. He is so good at hunting, all it takes is 5 minutes out there and he's got himself a snack. I hope he doesn't get too mad at me. Anyway, this trinket box is available on ETSY.
I finished a chunky Valentine painting this morning. She is listed on Ebay with a bunch of other Valentine Folk Art Items. Are you tired of winter? I am! Rain, Ice, Snow....I am sick of it all. Today, the cable was down...so it was pretty boring around here. My sister, who lives only a couple minutes from me has no power (and suspected till Sunday) That is a long time. So, today I got a little prepared myself. I have no place to go, so I'd be hunkering down at home. Filled 2 five gallon buckets of water..you know...to flush the toilet if need be. Those simple things we tend to forget about. I prepared some food that I could eat cold if I had to as well. I am praying it won't happen, but at least I will be somewhat prepared!
I finally painted something! It seems forever to me. I did sell a mixed media painting on Ebay yesterday..which makes me thrilled. This one is available on Ebay for a buy it now price..just in time for Valentine's Day. There will be no Valentine's Day at my house this year...so, at least I could do is paint about it.
I whipped out another box this morning. It's already available on ETSY. Just click on the image to take you there. It's been an uneventful life this winter. I know I need to get out and get some excersize because I had a dream last night that I joined a gym and Arnold Schwarzenegger was my trainer. LOL As a gift he bought me a box of workout essentials (that included a pair of short shorts....lmbo!) Even in my dream state, I was like....dude can we wait a few weeks of squats before I have to put those on...hahaha. So, I woke up this morning talking myself into joining the Y. They have a real nice one here in town and it is only 5 minutes away. If I can only get off my ass and do it, right?...soon, I promise. ;)
What a fun little box to make..only because I had a tiny brush. lol It is a wee thing at only 3x3. I love her hair...I wish I could do that with mine! heehee. She is available on ETSY. Click on the image to see.
Here's another large mixed media painting. Why do they call it media. It sounds weird because the only different material I used was fabric. I love this fabric too. I am going to make a matching paper clay doll with this fabric, this week. YES...I am actually gonna do it! I got the pattern out..so that is a good start.
I am ready for spring, are you? I know it is not near, but I am hoping that winter is halfway over, at least!
I will be listing this 8x24x.5 painting on E-BAY this afternoon.
This is the only creative thing I accomplished today. I am really liking this light purple. I have been trying to create my boxes with a variety of colors. This one turned out real pretty. It's the smallest of the boxes so far at only 3x5x2, but it does not lack in appeal, that is for sure. Look for her on ETSY.
"Yellow my dear" is my last box for the day. This is a taller one than I have done, about 4 inches high and 4 inches in circumference. The color is bright, but looks very stunning. I have yet to decide on where I am listing the three newest boxes. Does it really matter? lol
Yeah! I am so thrilled about this piece. I had this box for over a year I think and I could not figure out what I wanted to paint on it. Oh, now isn't she cute? She really couldn't be any cuter! lol This pink is so awesome. Graffiti pink is what it is called, but with crackle and antique glaze it tones it down just a hair.
It has been a pretty productive day for me. I want to paint some more, but I feel I must take a wee break. My back, neck, shoulder are all sore from shoveling snow all week.
This is a Valentine inspired Angel box. It is 4x6x 2.5 inches. It's so vibrant. I just love red. I am a bit surprised I have not used it much in my paintings. But that is going to change. I have a few Valentine inspired items coming along today. This one I started last night and finished this morning. I love it. I may have to stick her on Ebay! Come back to check out the link, if you like.
I am a bit sick of snow!!!! When does spring start around here?
This is my first painting of 2011. I will be placing her on ETSY, this afternoon. I have not been very motivated to paint or create for quite some time. My mother received some painting supplies for Christmas, so I have invited her over to test her skills. LOL Though, she's never really painted before, she is naturally talented as a few is my uncle and my younger sister. It is kinda funny how artistry runs in the family, whether they actually do art or not. I was not raised around anything artistic. Quite the contrary, in fact. A pretty "red-necked"environment to say the least. But somehow I was coloring in the lines at 3 years old and people started telling me "you're gonna be an artist" since then. Maybe it's that...the confirmation from people from a young age. If that is true..well sometimes I would have rather say, "you're gonna be a brain surgeon." lol Are there any "starving brain surgeon's" out there? lol Oh well.
