Payton's Ballerina Slippers

Finally, I sold my little girly slippers. Thanks Peyton's daddy. Dave's partner brought his daughter over. So, I entertained her with kitties and a hole house full of art. She was wanting me to teach her everything. She fell in love with a painting, so I gave it to her. LOL I love giving away art. Anyway, she fit them perfectly, so her pop bought them for her birthday coming up. She is so cute, she wants to come over and make crafts with me. So, I could end up with a little girl to play with once a week. How fun!

The 5 Minute self portrait

Still practicing my quick sketch. My talented friend Joan sketched a 15 minute drawing of me that I duplicated in a shorter version. I wonder if I will get over my own lack of confidence in drawing. I have been very frustrated this week. But, I am determined to keep at this. It will help tremendously when I am able to work with a live model. This is the time I wish I had people to sit for me. LOL My husband isn't even keen on the idea. Go figure.

Stippling Marc Jacobs

So much for a still life, right? LOL I am working on this to for school. I will be taking and changing to hue to show different scale. This represents medium value. I have to tell ya, I have not drawn in over 20 years. I suck at etching because I have no experience. I stippled this piece because if was always an easy thing for me. ADD maybe. Who knows.

I heart Halloween

This image is me practicing clipping mask for image editing. I love Halloween. It is too bad it is the devil's domain. We are selling most of our party items this year. I doubt we will ever have a Halloween Party again, but I had to keep my costume, lighted spooky trees and crows. I love fall. Especially since I am a September baby. Oh, and by the way, it is my birthday. I officially turn 40 years old at 6:16 pm today.

Remember those prefabs?

I finally took some exterior shots of Dave's project. Now that I am listing them, I thought it was time. You can see the Quest building, downtown from here. I like how they turned out. There were a few things I would change, but I did not have the privilege to work with the architect this time. Lets pray for some contracts. We lowered the prices and I am listing it myself. I get to hold it open on Saturdays. I pray for 9 contracts in 30 days. Lets go people, get your tax credits now!!! I also posted some new pictures on the Traverse blog.

Designing a kitty bed

I am using a couple of fabrics I received for my birthday from pea of Whimsical Endeavors to make a kitty bed. I have to make to trip to JoAnns for the cushion this week to work on this. I already washed the fabric, so that it will be washable. The kitty material will be the top/or bottom, the polka dotts are the sides. Black & white polka dot welt cording and some white beaded material on one side and lace on the other. What kind of lace is that, anyone know? Gingum came to mind, but I do not know what gingum is. lol Pop quiz, what other than art college do I have 2 years education? No it is not real estate either.

I have been knitting here and there. Some during camping and here and there. But, I have about 6 to 8 new ipod purses that just need their felted ball and strap attached. One of these days I will finish them all and get them out there. It is hard to get motivated to do something that does not bring money. Not now anyway. When I actually sell my patterns in a book, maybe that will bring money. *smirk* A boutique in Aspen looks pretty good to me. The rich can appreciate fine quality one of a kinds. :)

Painting & Schoolwork

I never know where to post my paintings. Art by Jenny or Wonders of Whimsy...sheesh. I have more follows on Wonders, so I post a lot over there. Anyway, if you missed out..I painted a 8 paintings. Trying to focus on painting a lot while I do schoolwork. Wouldn't it be nice to make money from your art? I am starting to sound redundant. lol

What's on your john?

This is a picture of my guest bath. Right now it is where I store and clean my paint brushes. I used to use the laundry room, but since the kitties are in there, I had to move. The small painting is the one I just did last night. I crackled it today.

I could play, do you recognize any artist here? Hmmm.... The angel doll is by Cotton Pickin Ranch and the love heart is by Birchberry Farms.

Story Board Family

I finished up on my story board. Really, it is just practice for me. I am learning how to draw cartoon characters. I forgot how easy they are. For me anyway. I drew Garfield and other characters as a child. I never use a grid and rarely used an eraser. Maybe this is my true calling after all. That is good, because I feel more confident about illustrating childrens books now!

Yep, I missed it!

I finally went to the botanic gardens. All of the roses were wilting in the heat. I am a little bummed because I realize if I move, it could me my last time there. Living in the mountains will bring plenty of nature photography, but I will have to find some place else to photograph roses. I do feel fortunate to have some wonderful pictures. I doubt I could get a more perfect rose, than what I already have.

Cherish what you have and don't worry about what you don't.

Digital Art

Just fooling around. I have a lot of studying to do this week. Not much fun happening here. I don't really care, though. It would be nice to make something on Monday, though. We will see.
Happy 4th of July weekend!

I snapped some pictures in a gallery in Boulder, yesterday. We went there to walk around the square, eat lunch and people watch. It was a nice time.

Reflections

I know, it has been a while. I cannot believe I am heading into mid-terms, already. Wow, time goes by! I have had no time to create or go to the gardens to take my annual flower pictures. I know I need to do it!!!

Reflections of the past
Seem to go by so fast
When I stop to think
I don't want to blink
because it might all be gone
If I wait too long

My first ever poem. I am definitely NOT a poet, but I could use the practice.

Americana doll

Those of you who do not follow my Wonders of Whimsy blog, I made a doll this weekend. To fill you in..besides rug hooking, knitting, crocheting, and photography....I make Whimsical Folk Art Dolls. I just started making them last year. They are fun to make and it feels great to have my work collected throughout the world.

I was pretty busy with school, otherwise. If you ever want to see some of my creations. I mostly post them on my other blog. There are so many different sides of me, I have to have more than one place to share.

Bok Bok (heehee)

I received these cute boxes in the mail, today. They were made by Birch Berry Farms. They are just darling and go well with my other hen/rooster items. I love how the colors pick up the marble in my kitchen. It was like she made them custom, just for me....lol

Coveting a punch needle pillow

So, here I am a new hook rugger and punch needle enthusiast and I am coveting someone else's work. LOL

Well, it has to start somewhere, right. I am bidding on this cute little pillow on EBay by Boggy Creek Primitives. The pattern is by MSHaw (which I have about 3 patterns of hers I am working on myself) I love how Marte has transformed it into her own, with the wonderful colors! Gosh, I hope it is mine, soon!! :)

Let's play count the cats....

One, two, three, four, five......six! Who's the cat lady now? LOL

My Cleaning Crew

I was carrying the kittens milk/kitty food and whoop, there it goes! Thanks goodness for my little cleaning crew. This was funny. CC (cookies&cream) and Gin are loving it. Soon Gin took over so CC decided to nibble on her leg. It was too cute! Gin is not used to getting so close to a cat. My other cats HATE her! lol

More of the house tour....

I was downstairs doing some police work (smirk) for a kitty crime and decided to snap some pictures of our Family room. Since I do not think I shared it before... I know, no that exciting, huh? The neat little dishwasher is. Though, I have never used it! LOL

Little scruffy fella

If you follow my other blogs, you know about these little kittens I rescued, today. This is the meanest one...lol if you can be mean at that age. Hissing at me...lol Well, I got momma, so they will be off to a no kill shelter to be taken care of while they get big enough to be adopted. Normally, I foster, but this is a feral mom and 4 kittens..a bit too much for me to handle. I am feeeling overly blessed, today, though because it is rare to be able to get a whole family!!! yeah.

Spring or not...we will see.

This picture was taken last year at the gardens. Unfortunately our crabapple trees got shocked by that April snow we had. I am bummed because they look horrible now all shriveled up. Our tulips are blooming and our grass is beginning to turn green. That is a nice change.

Last year we got snow on May 1st, so I am not expecting anything with this weather.

Friends?

This was cute to watch. Buddy decided he wanted to sit with Dana. He did it oh so very slow. So not to disturb her and she was okay with it. LOL It is a nice change from her and Shadow fighting all the time. Now, I definitely want to keep him!

How Great is our God

Jhn 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

Jhn 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

Lots to hook

My first ever hook rug has found its way into my office. Not that I needed anything else in this room, right? I have a ton of projects on my plate, now. 3 hook rugs and 1 punch needle. I broke down and bought my first punch needle kit. Now, if I can just stay focused and work on one at a time....lol NOT. ADD ya know. I am excited about making them, though!

The Stand Off

Here is Buddy up to no good, again! I was pretty surprised he could get up on this 8 foot fence. I just hope he does not teach my other kitties to do so. I do not mind him roaming around everywhere, since I found him outside...but that is a big no no for Shadow and Dana!!!

Anyway, I wanted to get them in the same frame, but had to go run and get the camera. They had already chased each other half way down the yard by the time I got back. I never have my camera around when I need it. If only they would invent a camera I can wear as a necklace or something. That takes great pictures that is!

Cutting Pennies

Here I go again. I am posting this link to remind me where to go for a penny rug cutting tutorial. This penny rug I made was part of a kit I bought a while back by Rag a Muffin. She has posted a blog entry Cutting Pennies for Penny Rug. Not sure when I will be attempting that, but I am totally interested! Go check it out if you are!

Hey Good Looking

My neighbors cat who has adopted us. He won't go home. Now would you blame him? Gosh talk about getting spoiled. All you can eat, 3500 square feet to roam and play, a laser light show every night, plenty of massages and kisses. HMMMM, where can I get a vacation like that? lol
